ISO requires all "Ready for DIS" documents to be presented in acceptable electronic and editing format. TC67 advice is to use "ISO format" and the ISO Template as soon as possible, preferably before the Committee Draft, in order to avoid problems later. Reading and re-reading Part 2 of the ISO Directives is the surest way to producing texts acceptable to ISO/CS. ISO Directives Part 2:2001 embodies the ISO rules for the structure and drafting of International Standards. A good, albeit simplified, example of the application of these rules is the "Rice" model of a draft International Standard. These and many other tools and information may be found at ISO SDIS - Standards Developers Information Site For TC67, this is supplemented by doc. N435 "TC67 Policy and Procedures", and by the advice, learnings and solutions at this website, see above for links. The "learnings" are validated by the "TC67 Format Learnings Group" that is set up by the TC67 Management Committee and includes TC67's principal editor at ISO CS. Most documents listed below are PDF files i.e. you need Adobe Acrobat reader on your computer, a free copy may be downloaded from Adobe's WWW site. Still problems? click here for a page of advice. |
